Loneliness of a War Child

On Episode 2, Madeline Bocaro discusses Yoko Ono’s childhood, including having been born in to one of the wealthiest and influential families in Japan. Bocaro describes the loneliness of what Yoko went through mentally and physically because of her wealth, as well as the devastating Tokyo bombings by the U.S. in 1945 during WWII. “…People leaving, servants running away, strange people barging in and taking things, other strange people doing things like throwing garbage in the wells so that we would have nothing to drink… I was a war child…” – Yoko Ono (2002). Join us as we explore how Yoko’s loneliness and trauma as a war child transcended her spirit to one of always seeking, elevating, and giving love and peace to others through her art and music.
