Fanny: “Sex Appeal Spices Rock” with a Hot Rock Opera

In this episode, Brie talks about Patti’s Motown roots and the “funkiness” brought to Fanny. “I love the funk!” Brie exclaimed. We then listen to Fanny’s “Beggar Man” off the “Rock and Roll Survivors” album on Casablanca Records (1974). Kristen reads a contemporary review of Fanny’s changing line up and the live rock opera so as to highlight the glowing reception the band received when hitting the road. Brie and Patti talk about the “chemistry” the members had when they performed live together, Nickey’s endless talents, and how Neil Bogart and Roy Silver had vision for the band and proclaimed, “It’s time! It’s Fanny’s time!” We close the episode with the album’s first charted single, “I’ve Had It.”
