S2:E4 With a Little Luck

On the fourth episode of this five-part interview series, Laurie Kaye talks about how she got to interview George Harrison, George Martin, Paul and Linda McCartney, and then on December 8, 1980, John Lennon and Yoko Ono for what would be his last interview. We get to hear about Laurie smoking a “doobie” with the McCartneys, being kissed by Paul, and how both Linda and Paul “…were just so kind and sweet, and they both started to sing to me…” It’s a hilarious and heartwarming insider scenario that you don’t want to miss if you’re a fan of the Beatles, Wings, and Paul and Linda. Their interaction was so memorable that it ultimately led to the McCartneys recommending Laurie to interview John and Yoko for the release of their album “Double Fantasy.” Call it luck, call it fate, or call it the result of being a damn talented journalist, but whatever you call it, Laurie’s interview with John and Yoko would forever alter her life and career. Her book, “Confessions of a Rock ‘n’ Roll Name-Dropper: My Life Leading Up to John Lennon’s Last Interview,” is equal parts extraordinary, fascinating, historic, heartbreaking, and, yes, fun and funny!
