What Does it Mean to be a Rock and Roll Survivor?

On the final episode of this “Mini-but-Mighty-Series,” we kick it off by listening to Fanny’s “Jungle Rock Star.” It’s a fitting song, because the lyrics speak to the chaotic and crazy world of rock and roll in the late-1960s through the mid-1970s. Kristen asks Brie and Patti to reflect on what it means for them to be rock and roll survivors. Brie talks candidly about her 60 years in music, television, and film, and feels she’s more a “thriver” than a “survivor.” Patti too talks openly about her lifetime in music, her musical family, her pioneering female bands, and Detroit Rock City. However, it’s Patti’s final story about being a rock and roll survivor that truly underscores the importance of female influencers in music. Both Patti and Brie should be quite proud of their incredible achievements in the world of rock and roll. We close with Fanny’s “Rockin’ (All Nite Long).” You’ll definitely want to listen to the end.
