The Ballad of John and Yoko

“I finally met Yoko and the dream became a reality.”

John Lennon (Skywriting by Word of Mouth)

On Episode 4, Madeline Bocaro discusses the chapter in her book about when, why, and how John and Yoko got together after meeting eighteen months prior at one of her shows at Indica Gallery. As Bocaro writes, “On the night that changed his life forever (November 7, 1966) John Lennon visited Yoko Ono’s Unfinished Paintings and Objects exhibition… John’s bite of Yoko’s apple – a modern tale of Adam and Eve/East meets West – began the ballad of John and Yoko. This was the start of many turbulent, yet exciting years for the infamous couple. They would dedicate their eternal union to promoting peace.” And so they did, including recording “Two Virgins,” their “Bed In(s),” their anti-war rhetoric, “War is Over. If you want it,” and their musical pleas to imagine giving peace a chance.

  1. Absolutely Fab!!!I love it and have a voracious appetite for Beatles trivia. I have Two Virgins on vinyl. Didn’t know about the Tetragrammaton origin… interesting! Great trivia in this series. I’ll have to grab that book and check it out. Thanks for the stellar episode Kristen. I look forward to the next one!
